Hello parents!
I am SO SORRY that is has been two weeks since I have written to you! Life has become extremely hectic on the weekends for me, but that is no excuse! I love writing to you guys and it brings me so much joy to keep you updated on what is going on in our lovely classroom! Your sweet children had a VERY exciting week! Zero the Hero visited for the first time! This was his first visit, we had to find a new Zero, our former Zero had a hard time leaving his classroom to visit. Our new Zero is VERY special to me, he my husband, Mr. Fitzpatrick! He will be visiting every ten days until the 100th day of school. The students loved being able to meet Zero and they loved the lesson he prepared for them about bullying. October is national bullying awareness month, so be sure to talk to your children about bullying! We had our first assembly with the NED show! The NED show talked about how special each and every person is and how person can do anything that they wish to do. I will attach the link for a video discussing what the NED assembly is about. They are selling yo-yos before school in the cafeteria. Click here for video about the NED show Thank you for those who dressed up for diversity day! Each and every one of you looked so AMAZING! I loved seeing everyone’s diversity! The end of the 9th weeks is approaching fast! Most of the grades are already put in. If you have any questions please email me, call me or we can speak about it at parent teacher conference! Homework will be sent home Monday. It will be due on Friday! We are still using our book bags! I give the students new book on Monday and Friday! As an apology for not being able to post for two weeks, I have a free $5 Scholastic book coupon with a $10 purchase. I have limited quality, so please let me know if you would like one! Thank you for being amazing parents and changing your children’s lives! Jessica Fitzpatrick Hey there parents! Hello parents! I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend! I know I enjoyed watching the Astros beat the Angels today and I am VERY excited about getting my free slushy from Sonic on Tuesday and my $7 pizza from Papa Johns tomorrow for the Texans winning! We had SUCH a fun week in kindergarten! In ELA, we reached ELEVEN minutes in our Daily 5 read to self, so we were able to start our writing unit of Daily 5! We were in our apple unit this week, so we were able to read all about Johnny Appleseed, and my personal favorite, Ten Apples up on Top. We made our own animal with apples on top that spelled out our names, using yellow apples as the vowels in our name. Quiz your child about vowels and syllables; they are getting really great at it! In math, we finished up learning about our 2D shapes (square, triangle, circle and square), we made our 2D shapes using pretzels and marshmallows. In science we are starting to learn about our senses. This week we starting to learn about, sight, taste and smell. With sight we mixed food coloring and shaving cream to SEE the different colors, and with taste we TASTED the sweet M&M, the sour sour patch candy, and the salty pretzel. On Monday we had our TENTH day of school! We chased our “Zero the Hero” mascot around the school, meeting the principal, vice principal, nurse, custodian and cafeteria manager. When we arrived back into the classroom, our mascot left us a special zero the hero treat (cheerios) We started book bag this week! I am only sending home book bags to those parents who have sent back permission for their child to use the book bag. IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO USE A BOOK BAG EMAIL ME! OR RESPOND BELOW! I STRONGLY recommend a book bag, it gives you and your child a chance to bond and read together. You MUST return the book bag DAILY, your child will get new book in their bag at least every Friday. Open House is THIS TUESDAY at 6, PLEASE attend! I am so excited to see you again! I love having an relationship with my parents! If you need anything at all, please let me know! I love to help with anything! I cannot wait to see you Tuesday night! PS I will give your child their zero the hero shirts on Monday, THANK you for sending shirts! I AM SO GRATEFUL! So grateful, Jessica Fitzpatrick Howdy Parents!
